Video surveillance: phone as camera, WebRTC, and AI

Live Django 6.1, Channels, Redis, MySQL, WebRTC, YOLO

HomeBoard is a video monitoring cabinet: phone/IP camera pairing, live Viewer, motion, recordings, Telegram alerts, and YOLO/Ollama analytics.

HomeBoard is a video surveillance platform for home and small business. A phone becomes a camera via pairing code, and viewing happens in the browser over WebRTC (MediaMTX). IP cameras are also supported through RTSP.

The HomeBoard Camera Android app connects to the cabinet, streams video, supports flashlight, low-power screen mode, talkback (Viewer audio to the phone speaker), and optional on-device AI frame prefiltering.

Platform capabilities:
• Cameras — pairing codes, reconnect flows, camera registry, RTSP/IP via MediaMTX
• Viewer — live browser viewing, camera tiles, talkback (mic → phone)
• Streaming — WebRTC ingest/play on Django Channels / Daphne + Redis
• Motion — motion detection and events for recording/alerts
• Recordings — trigger-based clips, storage limits (GB/days), auto-cleanup
• AI Analytics — server-side YOLO detection, COCO classes, Ollama event captions, ingest fps settings, and on-device prefilter
• Telegram — alert integration with screenshots (all cameras or selected)
• Accounts — owner cabinet for camera management

Typical scenarios:
• quickly turn a phone into a camera without a separate NVR
• watch multiple cameras in Viewer from a PC
• receive motion/AI events and Telegram alerts
• keep recordings with disk usage control

Stack: Django 6.1, Channels/Daphne, Redis, MySQL, MediaMTX/WebRTC, Ultralytics YOLO, Ollama, Android client.
